AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE UTILITY DEPOSIT ASSISTANCE FOR LOW-INCOME PERSONS LEAVING LONG-TERM CARE INSTITUTIONS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the governor's committee on concerns of the handicapped for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 to provide assistance, including utility deposits, rent deposits, furniture and basic living supplies, to low-income persons leaving long-term care institutions to establish independent living residences. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
