AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO TO ESTABLISH A PILOT PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR CHILD CARE EXPENSES TO STUDENTS SEEKING GRADUATE AND PROFESSIONAL DEGREES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 to establish a pilot program that provides financial assistance for child care expenses to students seeking graduate or professional degrees. The pilot program shall be administered by the graduate and professional student association. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
