MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC EDUCATION TO CONTRACT FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS FOR TEACHERS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred fifty thousand dollars ($550,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2003 to contract for professional development programs for primary and secondary school teachers regarding trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2003 shall revert to the general fund.
