MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO RAISE ELIGIBILITY FOR STATE-SUBSIDIZED CHILD CARE SERVICES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two million dollars ($2,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2004 for the purpose of serving new clients by raising the eligibility for state-subsidized child care from one hundred percent to two hundred percent of the federal poverty level and creating a waiting list of those clients under the eligibility ceiling who are ineligible due to insufficient funding. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004 shall revert to the general fund.
