SUMMARY
     Synopsis
of Bill
Senate Bill 403
appropriates $100.0 from the general fund to the
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
This bill appropriates
$100.0 in general fund the State Highway Department for the FY04 fiscal
year.  Funds not encumbered or expended
by the end of FY 04 will revert.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
Wrong way driving is a serious and ongoing
issue.  The Department’s Research Bureau
has considered this subject in the past, and it would be helpful to update
previous efforts by examining new technology.
Highway District 6, Grants/Milan, has expressed an interest in being a
lead District in wrong-way driving technology research and development.  If this bill were enacted, the study would be
undertaken by the Research Bureau, with District 6 as the lead District, and in
cooperation with the General Office and each District across the State.
