SUMMARY

     Synopsis of Bill

House Bill 543 creates a third type of placard for disabled persons parking, a permanent wheelchair only disabled placard.  HB 543 describes how the placard will be designed, and requires that passenger van spaces in parking lots be increased in number and designated as parking spaces for permanent wheel-chair only disabled placards.

     Significant Issues

HB 543 will require an increase in the number of parking spaces for vans needed to transport wheel chairs.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

TRD will have to produce a third type of disabled parking placard.

Agencies will have to reserve additional space for vans.

ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS

TRD will have a very minimal increase of administrative requirements.
