SUMMARY

     Synopsis of Bill

House Bill 758 appropriates $250.0 to the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) to fund a boundary survey and mapping project for the Linas area within the La Serna Land Grant, located in Taos County.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

The appropriation of $250.0 contained in this bill is a non-recurring expense to the general fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 shall revert to the general fund.

ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS

DFA recommends that this appropriation should be made to the New Mexico State University (NMSU) Geography Department, instead of to DFA.  NMSU possesses the expertise necessary to effectively oversee this project.
