SUPPORTING THE LOCATION OF A NATIONAL VETERANS' CEMETERY AND A VETERANS' RETIREMENT VILLAGE ON THE WESTSIDE MESA WEST OF ALBUQUERQUE.

WHEREAS, the proposed location of the national veterans' cemetery and the veterans' retirement village on the westside mesa, located west of Albuquerque near interstate 40, is centrally located within New Mexico and adjacent to the largest municipality in the state; and

WHEREAS, the westside mesa is close to a major interstate and easily accessible by vehicle; and

WHEREAS, the proposed location of the national veterans' cemetery and the veterans' retirement village offers a pleasant setting with scenic views; and

WHEREAS, the westside mesa location has good airport access, both to the Albuquerque International airport and to Double Eagle II airport;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that it support the location of the national veterans' cemetery and the veterans' retirement village on the westside mesa west of Albuquerque near interstate 40; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the governor, the director of veterans' affairs, the United States department of veterans' affairs and members of the New Mexico congressional delegation.
