A MEMORIAL

EXPRESSING THE CONDOLENCE OF THE SENATE UPON THE PASSING OF STEVE LOVATO.



WHEREAS, Steve Lovato of Roswell, New Mexico, died on March 16, 2002 at thirty years of age; and

WHEREAS, he attempted to help a man at the scene of a house fire and was mortally wounded by the same man; and

WHEREAS, he dutifully served his community as an emergency medical technician; and

WHEREAS, he was a four-year employee of American medical response and a driving instructor who earned the company's highest award for service to others; and

WHEREAS, his co-workers described him as "a kind and considerate friend and a diligent EMT"; and

WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife, Josephine and his son, Alexander;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that condolences be extended to the family and friends of Steve Lovato, a loving and devoted New Mexican who gave his life in the line of duty.
