A MEMORIAL

HONORING KEN JAMES, DIRECTOR OF THE SENIOR PROGRAM FOR TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES AND SIERRA COUNTY, HUMORIST AND GENTLEMAN.



WHEREAS, Ken James, a long-time resident of Truth or Consequences, retired on January 24, 2003 as the program director of the Sierra joint office on aging senior program; and

WHEREAS, Ken James proudly served as the program director since its inception in 1973; and

WHEREAS, Ken James dedicated over twenty-nine years to the seniors of Sierra county and the state of New Mexico as program director; and

WHEREAS, Ken James served as an eloquent and passionate advocate for the rights of and services for seniors; and

WHEREAS, Ken James, taking pride in his work, guided the building of the senior program in Truth or Consequences and senior programs statewide from an initial meals program into a broad array of programs for seniors, caregivers and residents of long-term care facilities and their families to provide for a high quality of life; and

WHEREAS, Ken James gave of himself to anyone in need and, ever the gentleman, touched the lives of many people with his humor, dedication, kindness and consideration;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that Ken James be recognized for his contributions to the people of New Mexico; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the participants of the senior center in Truth or Consequences, to the board of directors of the Sierra joint office on aging and to Ken James.
