A JOINT RESOLUTION

PROPOSING THAT THE VISITOR CENTER AND THE PROPERTY CONTAINING THE VISITOR CENTER AT THE VERY LARGE ARRAY NEAR SOCORRO BE TRANSFERRED TO THE NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION.



WHEREAS, the national science foundation operates the visitor center at the very large array near Socorro; and

WHEREAS, the visitor center was built with state funds on land transferred by the national science foundation to the property control division of the general services department; and

WHEREAS, the property containing the visitor center at the very large array is approximately fifty miles west of Socorro in Socorro county, New Mexico, and is described as:

A certain tract of land situate in Section 1, T 3 S., R. 8

W., N.M.P.M. Socorro County, State of New Mexico; and

WHEREAS, the property is more particularly described as:

Beginning at corner #1, the southwest corner, whence the southwest corner of Section 1 bears S 4640'40"W, a distance of 2589.98 feet;

Thence: N 305'E, 41.74 feet to Corner #2;

Thence: Along a curve having a central angle of 3325' and a radius of 125.00 feet for a distance of 72.90 feet to Corner #3;

Thence: N 3630'E, 110.61 feet to Corner #4;

Thence: S 8655'E, 219.29 feet to Corner #5;

Thence: S 305'W, 200.00 feet to Corner #6;

Thence: N 8655'W, 300.00 feet to Corner #1 the point of beginning.

Said tract containing 1.263 acres more or less;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the transfer to the national science foundation of the visitor center and the land in Socorro county containing the visitor center at the very large array be ratified and approved; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the general services department, the county commission of Socorro county and the national science foundation.
