A MEMORIAL

RECOGNIZING PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY OF NEW MEXICO FOR ITS INCLUSION FOR THE FIFTH YEAR IN A ROW IN FORTUNE MAGAZINE'S "BEST COMPANIES FOR MINORITIES" REPORT.

 

     WHEREAS, public service company of New Mexico is not only a reliable supplier of power to New Mexicans but has also been recognized for its record of minority hiring and promotion; and

     WHEREAS, public service company of New Mexico was listed by Fortune magazine in 2003 as one of the top ten "best companies for minorities", the fifth consecutive year the magazine has recognized the company for its achievements in minority hiring and promotion; and

     WHEREAS, of the top fifty paid positions at public service company of New Mexico, thirty-two percent are held by minorities and more than forty-four percent of new hires are minorities; and

     WHEREAS, Hispanics comprise forty-one percent of the entire staff and four of the company's officers are Hispanic, making the company the best company in the United States for Hispanics;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that public service company of New Mexico be congratulated for its record of minority hiring and promotion; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to public service company of New Mexico.
