AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO FUND PLANNING FOR AN ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL IN THE SANTA FE PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to fund planning for an alternative school in the Santa Fe public schools. The appropriation shall be used to fund curriculum planning, staffing efforts and staff training, architectural planning and design, visits to comparable sites nationwide and a pilot program. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
