AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDIES PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for the African American studies department for:

                (1) programs for high school students and university freshmen to help them bridge the academic achievement gap and prepare them for university coursework in the field of African American studies;

                (2) fellowships and assistantships for graduate and postdoctoral students; and

                (3) a distinguished lecture series in African American studies.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
