AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO ESTABLISH A MENTAL HEALTH COURT IN DONA ANA COUNTY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

          A. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund to the following agencies for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 for the purpose of establishing and operating a mental health court in Dona Ana county:

                (1) one hundred sixty-two thousand dollars ($162,000) to the administrative office of the courts for distribution to the third judicial district court, Dona Ana magistrate court and city of Las Cruces municipal court for salaries and benefits for officers of the mental health court;

                (2) forty-four thousand dollars ($44,000) to the third judicial district attorney's office to provide salaries and operating costs for an assistant district attorney and secretary; and

                (3) forty-four thousand dollars ($44,000) to the public defender department for salaries, benefits and operating costs for an attorney and secretary for the third judicial district office of the public defender department.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
