AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO ESTABLISH A TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE RESOURCE CENTER TO REDUCE DISPROPORTIONATE MINORITY YOUTH CONTACT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to establish a technical assistance resource center to support the disproportionate minority contact task force, which is supervised by the juvenile justice advisory committee, in its efforts to reduce disparate treatment of youth in the juvenile justice system. The center shall involve the schools of social work at New Mexico highlands university, New Mexico state university and the university of New Mexico. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
