AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR LEGAL AND TECHNICAL EXPENSES RELATED TO INTERSTATE WATER CONFLICTS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Four million dollars ($4,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the office of the attorney general for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 and subsequent fiscal years to pay for cooperative agreements involving the office of the state engineer, the interstate stream commission or the department of environment for legal and technical expenses related to interstate water conflicts pursuant to the Rio Grande Compact and the Colorado River Compact. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.
