AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE NEW MEXICO INSTITUTE OF MINING AND TECHNOLOGY FOR AN ORGANIZATION THAT PREPARES STUDENTS FOR CAREERS IN MATHEMATICS, ENGINEERING AND THE SCIENCES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred sixty-two thousand dollars ($162,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the New Mexico institute of mining and technology for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 for an organization dedicated to preparing students for careers in mathematics, engineering and the sciences. The appropriation shall also be used to expand the programs of the organization in twelve to eighteen public schools throughout the state. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
