AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO ESTABLISH A TRANSITION FUND TO ASSIST SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN MEETING REQUIREMENTS OF THE THREE-TIERED LICENSURE SYSTEM.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Eight million nine hundred thousand dollars ($8,900,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to establish a transition fund to help school districts with budget shortfalls to meet requirements of implementing the third year of the three-tiered licensure system. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
