SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 305 appropriates ten million dollars ($10,000,000) from the General Fund to the local
government’s road fund (LGRF) for the purpose of constructing or improving local government
highways, streets, school bus routes and related facilities.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of ten million dollars ($10,000,000) contained in this bill is a non-recurring
expense to the general fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
FY07 shall revert to the General Fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The NMDOT indicates that the LGRF receives on average $21.5 Million per fiscal year. This
appropriation will add to this amount for use by local governments pursuant to existing law (Sec-
tion 67-3-28.2 NMSA 1978) and procedures established by the New Mexico Department of
Transportation. The appropriation will increase the number of local government projects funded
through the Local Governments Road Fund.
