SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 407 appropriates $100 thousand from the general fund to the Tourism Department to
sponsor and support the USS New Mexico at milestone ceremonies during construction and
commissioning.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $100 thousand contained in this bill is a non-recurring expense to the gen-
eral fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007
shall revert to the general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The USS New Mexico Committee, chaired by Dick Brown, indicates the submarine is only 18%
complete and will require several more years of construction before joining the Navy’s fleet.
