SUMMARY
House Bill 452 appropriates $57.0 from the general fund to PED to support the Summerbridge
Academy for the Taos Municipal Schools.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
House Bill 452 appropriates $57.0 from the general fund and is recurring. The appropriation is
for FY 2006 and FY 2007. Any unexpended funds remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 will
revert to the general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
According to PED, this is an experimental summer academic program designed to help students
prepare for the next school year. This program targets students from the second to seventh
grades who have been identified with problems in math and language arts.
PERFORMANCE IMPLICATIONS
The PED indicates there is a relationship to the reform initiatives under Rural Education and the
measures under reading/language arts and mathematics.
