committees of the NM Legislature. The LFC does not assume responsibility for the accuracy of these reports
if they are used for other purposes.

Adobe PDF versions include all attachments, whereas HTML versions may not. Previously issued FIRs and

Synopsis of Senate Rules Committee Amendment
Senate Rules Committee amends House Joint Resolution 1 such that;
1)
On page 1, lines 15 & 16, strike “BOTH HOUSES OF THE LEGISLATURE” and
insert in lieu thereof “THE SENATE”.
2)
On page 2, line 7, after “by” strike the remainder of the line, strike line 8 up to the pe-
riod and insert in lieu thereof “the senate”.,
The amendment has the effect of stipulating that if passed, House Joint Resolution 1 would ask
the voters to amend the New Mexico Constitution, Article V, Section 5 to allow the Governor to
appoint the Lieutenant Governor, when a vacancy occurs, subject to confirmation by only the
Senate..
