AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO FUND A PILOT STUDY TO SERVE WOMEN VETERANS AND VETERAN AND ACTIVE-DUTY FAMILIES; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Four hundred sixty-nine thousand two hundred fifty dollars ($469,250) is appropriated from the general fund to the veterans' services department for expenditure in fiscal years 2007 and 2008 to expand services to serve women veterans and veteran and active-duty families, including a pilot project providing therapy, trauma treatment, support groups, an on-site women's veterans' service officer and staff training for those serving such veterans and compilation and analysis of the effectiveness of the pilot study model serving the needs of New Mexico women veterans. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.

     Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
