AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE ALBUQUERQUE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO OBTAIN NECESSARY SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE UPGRADES FOR THE COMPREHENSIVE INFORMATION SYSTEM.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Three million dollars ($3,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to provide the Albuquerque police department with the necessary computer software and hardware upgrades for the comprehensive information system to:

                (1) provide for officer-scheduling and case-management software that allows the department to coordinate with the appropriate court systems and schedule and notify officers of court hearings, with updates through various media, to reduce court dismissals due to failure to appear;

                (2) ensure that existing hardware for the comprehensive information system fully leverages its capabilities;

                (3) establish appropriate communication links to allow real-time information sharing with other criminal justice systems; and

                (4) ensure that the comprehensive information system includes a police records management system, police and fire computer-aided dispatch, police and fire mobile data computing, an automated and field reporting system and a data warehouse available to multiple agencies and jurisdictions.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
