AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR DISTANCE LEARNING THROUGH A VIRTUAL CLASSROOM IN RATON.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred five thousand dollars ($305,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to implement a distance-learning alternative school curriculum that complies with the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 through a virtual classroom in the Raton public schools that accommodates the needs of specific student populations identified by the Raton board of education. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
