AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO IMPLEMENT THE NEW MEXICO STORY PROJECT PROGRAM.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to implement the New Mexico story project to introduce New Mexico's school children to the right oral histories and traditions of the state and preserve those same oral histories and traditions. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
