AN ACT

RELATING TO THE STATE FAIR; LOCATING THE STATE FAIR IN VALENCIA COUNTY; REPEALING OBSOLETE SECTIONS OF LAW PERTAINING TO APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE STATE FAIR FROM THE STATE AND ALBUQUERQUE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. A new section of Chapter 16, Article 6 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] STATE FAIR LOCATION--VALENCIA COUNTY--LAND.--The state fair shall be located in Valencia county on land owned by the state or transferred or donated to the state by the county, a municipality or other person. The state fair shall hold the property in the name of the state."

     Section 2. TEMPORARARY PROVISION--MOVE OR SALE OF PROPERTY IN BERNALILLO COUNTY.--Upon approval of the sale by the legislature, the state fair commission shall sell the property owned by the state fair in Albuquerque for no less than fair market value. Money received from the sale of the property shall be used to make improvements to the state fair property in Valencia county.

     Section 3. REPEAL.--Sections 16-6-7 and 16-6-9 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1913, Chapter 46, Sections 6 and 8, as amended) are repealed.
