AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO CONTRACT FOR LIFE MANAGEMENT SKILLS PROGRAMS FOR PERSONS INCARCERATED IN NEW MEXICO.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Seven hundred fifty thousand dollars ($750,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the corrections department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to contract with a nonprofit organization for a life management skills program focused on the improvement of self-esteem, the concept of commitment and collective responsibility and the development of problem-solving and decision-making skills, basic money management skills and employment skills for persons incarcerated in New Mexico. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
