AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO INCREASE FUNDING FOR APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS THROUGH THE APPRENTICESHIP ASSISTANCE ACT.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two million dollars ($2,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 for the career, technical and workforce education bureau of the instructional support and vocational education division to support registered apprenticeship programs through the Apprenticeship Assistance Act. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
