AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF NEW MEXICO INSTITUTE OF MINING AND TECHNOLOGY FOR SERVICES RELATED TO PREPARING STUDENTS FOR CAREERS IN MATHEMATICS, ENGINEERING AND THE SCIENCES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

          A. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico institute of mining and technology for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 for the following purposes:

                (1) one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) for expenses related to enrolling seven public school teachers who teach mathematics and science in a twenty-month master's of science teaching program; and

                (2) one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) for data research and analysis of students who have participated in programs that prepared them for careers in mathematics, engineering and the sciences.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
