AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A BEST-PRACTICE CHARACTER BUILDING YOUTH DANCE PROGRAM IN SCHOOL DISTRICTS STATEWIDE.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 to contract for provision of a best-practice, character-building youth dance program in partnership with local school districts throughout the state. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
