SUMMARY

 Synopsis of Bill

House Bill 160 amends the Gift Act to decrease the maximum allowable amount of gifts
accepted or donated to a state officer, employee, candidate for state office, or that person’s
family. Specifically, a single gift is limited to $25, instead of the $250 currently provided in the
Act, and the annual total of all gifts is limited to $100, instead of the $1,000 currently provided
in the Act

OTHER SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES

The Attorney General’s Office suggests that Since the Gift Act was enacted in last year’s
Regular Session after extensive deliberation it may be too premature to consider amending the
donation limits at this time.
