AN ACT

RELATING TO PROCUREMENT; REQUIRING ATTORNEY GENERAL APPROVAL FOR CERTAIN CONTRACTS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. A new section of Chapter 13, Article 1 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] CONTRACT APPROVAL BY ATTORNEY GENERAL.--A state contract involving more than one million dollars ($1,000,000) per fiscal year shall not be effective until approved for legality by the attorney general. The attorney general may charge a state agency that is a party to the contract the cost of contract review. The state agency shall submit a copy of an approved contract to the legislative finance committee for informational purposes."
