AN ACT

RELATING TO FISCAL SOLVENCY; REQUIRING THE GOVERNOR TO REDUCE CERTAIN EXECUTIVE AGENCY BUDGETS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. FISCAL SOLVENCY--EXECUTIVE AGENCY BUDGET REDUCTIONS.--The governor shall reduce the fiscal year 2010 budgets of executive agencies under his control by at least four hundred thirty-three million dollars ($433,000,000) in recurring expenditures, which reductions shall be carried forward in the fiscal year 2011 executive budget recommendations. In addition, the governor shall reduce the budgets of executive agencies under his control by another two hundred seventeen million dollars ($217,000,000), which reductions may be in nonrecurring expenditures.

     Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
