AN ACT

RELATING TO PROCUREMENT; REQUIRING A BIDDER ON A MOTOR VEHICLE PROCUREMENT CONTRACT TO HAVE A MOTOR VEHICLE DEALER'S LICENSE AND TO OWN A FACILITY IN THE STATE TO SERVICE MOTOR VEHICLES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. A new section of the Procurement Code is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] PROCUREMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES--INVITATION FOR BIDS.--An invitation for bids on a motor vehicle procurement contract shall include requirements that the bidder be licensed to do business in the state as a motor vehicle dealer and that the bidder own a facility in the state to service the motor vehicles sold. For the purposes of this section, "motor vehicle" means every self-propelled vehicle, having two or more wheels, by which a person or property may be transported on a public highway."
