A MEMORIAL

RECOGNIZING FEBRUARY 5, 2010 AS "FILM AND MEDIA DAY" AT THE SENATE.

     WHEREAS, the film and media industry in New Mexico has created over ten thousand jobs; and

     WHEREAS, the film and media industry in New Mexico has created two hundred fifty film-specific businesses; and

     WHEREAS, the film and media industry in New Mexico has supported thousands of businesses in the state, including hotels, lumber yards, office supply companies, restaurants and car rental companies; and

     WHEREAS, the film and media industry in New Mexico is providing educational opportunities and career pathways that have contributed to over twelve thousand students studying film and media in New Mexico schools, colleges and universities;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that it recognize February 5, 2010 as "Film and Media Day" at the senate.
