A RESOLUTION

AMENDING THE HOUSE RULES TO PROVIDE FOR TESTING THE ACCURACY OF THE ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM.

 

     WHEREAS, the rules of the house of representatives may be amended by a two-thirds' vote of all the members of the house or by a majority vote of the members of the house upon the recommendation of the rules and order of business committee;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that House Rule 21-7 be amended to read:

"21-7     Roll call votes in the house may be taken by means of an electronic voting [machine] system. Immediately prior to any regular, special or extraordinary session and at any time upon the order of the speaker, the accuracy of the electronic voting system shall be tested by the chief clerk. The test shall be witnessed by one member from each of the two political parties with the greatest membership in the house.".
