A RESOLUTION

AMENDING THE SENATE RULES TO PROVIDE FOR THE TESTIMONY OF STUDENT AND FACULTY REPRESENTATIVES PRIOR TO CONSIDERING NOMINATIONS OF REGENTS.

     WHEREAS, Senate Rule 24-1 provides that the rules of the senate may be amended by a two-thirds' vote of all the members of the senate or by a majority vote of the members of the senate upon the recommendation of the rules committee;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the senate rules be amended by the addition of a new Senate Rule 9-8-2 to read:

"9-8-2          The rules committee shall invite and make provisions to receive the testimony of appropriate student and faculty representatives prior to making its recommendation to the senate on the confirmation of a nominee to a board of regents of a state educational institution specified in Article 12, Section 11 of the constitution of New Mexico.".
