AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO FUND RURAL PRIMARY HEALTH CARE AND TO FUND RECRUITMENT, HIRING AND RETENTION OF ADDITIONAL PRIMARY HEALTH CARE CLINICIANS IN RURAL UNDERSERVED AREAS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

          A. One million dollars ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2014 to fund recruitment, hiring and retention of additional health care clinicians to increase the capacity of primary care clinics to provide primary health care services in underserved areas of the state pursuant to the Rural Primary Health Care Act. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2014 shall revert to the general fund.

          B. Two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health to fund recruitment of health care personnel for underserved areas of the state through a contract between the department of health and a nonprofit with expertise in recruiting health care personnel to the state. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2014 shall revert to the general fund.
