A MEMORIAL

RECOGNIZING TRESCO, INCORPORATED, ON ITS FORTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF PROVIDING QUALITY SERVICES TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO.

 

     WHEREAS, Tresco, incorporated, was established in 1968 as a nonprofit organization to provide services to people with disabilities in a community-based setting; and

     WHEREAS, Tresco is an organization that values the worth and contributions of people with disabilities and provides an array of supports and services unique to each individual's strengths and support needs; and

     WHEREAS, Tresco currently serves one thousand five hundred children and adults with disabilities in Dona Ana, Sierra and Socorro counties; and

     WHEREAS, Tresco employs a passionate, committed work force of five hundred seventy-five people; and

     WHEREAS, Tresco provides early intervention services to children from birth to three years old, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical and family therapy, developmental learning and service coordination; and

     WHEREAS, Tresco offers respite services for families of children and adults with disabilities to relieve those families of caregiving duties; and

     WHEREAS, Tresco provides up to twenty-four-hour support for adults with developmental disabilities to enable them to live and thrive in their own homes and communities, including direct support, health care coordination, service coordination and nursing; and

     WHEREAS, Tresco offers supported employment services, including job placement, job coaching, employer support and transportation, to adults with developmental disabilities to foster job skills and promote economic self-sufficiency; and

     WHEREAS, Tresco provides meaningful community-based activities to promote the full inclusion of people with disabilities into community life; and

     WHEREAS, Tresco offers excellent employment opportunities for people with significant disabilities that would otherwise result in barriers to full employment by contracting with federal, state and local governments and the private sector; and

     WHEREAS, Tresco's services include advocacy and the promotion of awareness of the benefits of diversity in all aspects of community life;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that it recognize Tresco, incorporated, on its forty-fifth anniversary of providing quality services to people with disabilities in southern New Mexico; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to Tresco, incorporated, the governor, the secretary of health, the secretary of human services and the appropriate interim legislative committees.
