    Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

 

HOUSE BILL 263

 

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

 

     1. On page 1, lines 13 and 14, strike "PROVIDING, FOR ALL QUALIFIED STUDENTS, A UNIFORM AWARD AMOUNT TO BE ADJUSTED ANNUALLY" and insert in lieu thereof "REQUIRING THE HIGHER EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO ANNUALLY DETERMINE A UNIFORM PERCENTAGE FOR CALCULATING LEGISLATIVE LOTTERY SCHOLARSHIPS".

 

    2. On page 2, lines 13 and 14, strike "in a uniform amount determined annually by the department".

 

    3. On page 3, line 19, strike "enrollment at all" and insert in lieu thereof "enrollments and tuition costs at".

 

    4. On page 3, line 24, after "determine", insert "whether to maintain, increase or decrease".

 

    5. On page 3, line 24, strike "award" and insert in lieu thereof "percentage by which to calculate the". 

 

    6. On page 4, line 1, strike "for a qualified student attending" and insert in lieu thereof "that will assist a qualified student with tuition costs at".

 

    7. On page 4, line 12, after "in", strike the remainder of the line, strike lines 13 though 15 in their entirety and strike line 16 up to the period and insert in lieu thereof "an amount calculated pursuant to Subsections A and B of this section".

 

    8. On page 4, line 24, after "institutions", strike the remainder of the line, strike line 25 in its entirety and on page 5, strike lines 1 through 4 in their entirety and insert in lieu thereof a period.

 

    9. On page 5, line 7, strike "in a department-determined amount".,

 

 

and thence referred to the APPROPRIATIONS AND FINANCE COMMITTEE
