Mr. President:

    Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

SENATE BILL 361

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

    1. On page 1, line 11, strike "EARN A" and insert in lieu thereof "ENROLL IN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING THAT MAY INCLUDE A".

    2. On page 1, lines 21 and 22, strike "a mandatory" and insert in lieu thereof "an".

    3. On page 2, between lines 24 and 25, insert the following new paragraph:

             "(2) every inmate in the custody or supervision of the corrections department shall be assessed and placed in appropriate educational programming based on the inmate's academic capacity and need;".

    4. Renumber the succeeding paragraphs accordingly.

    5. On page 3, line 4, strike "(3)" and insert in lieu thereof "(4)".,

and thence referred to the JUDICIARY COMMITTEE.
