AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT DIVISION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION FOR THE MID-REGION COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS FOR TEACHER TRAINING.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2016 for the mid-region council of governments to contract with a community-based organization to develop and implement, in consultation with institutions of higher education and employers, educational career cohorts made up of persons seeking alternative licensure for a career as bilingual math and science teachers and teachers of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, special education, career-technical education and early childhood education. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2016 shall revert to the general fund.
