A MEMORIAL

RECOGNIZING THE NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY AGGIES MEN'S AND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAMS.

 

     WHEREAS, New Mexico state university is home to both of the western athletic conference men's and women's basketball regular season and tournament champion teams; and

     WHEREAS, New Mexico state university is one of only twenty-one schools in the country to have both its men's and women's basketball programs represented in the national collegiate athletic association March madness tournament; and

     WHEREAS, the aggies men's and women's basketball teams have a combined winning record of forty-five games, including forty of their last forty-three games; and

     WHEREAS, the aggies men's basketball team is one of only thirteen teams in the country to advance to the national collegiate athletic association March madness tournament for four consecutive years, and it has gone to the tournament five times in the last six years; and

     WHEREAS, the aggies women's basketball team is advancing to the national collegiate athletic association March madness tournament for the first time since 1988; and

     WHEREAS, the aggies men's and women's basketball teams have advanced to the national collegiate athletic association March madness tournament a combined twenty-five times in their history;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the New Mexico state university aggies men's and women's basketball teams be recognized for their winning basketball programs; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that New Mexico fans be encouraged to show their spirit and to cheer on the aggies men's and women's basketball teams in the national collegiate athletic association March madness tournament on the days of March 20 and 21, 2015; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the head coach of New Mexico state university aggies men's basketball team and the head coach of New Mexico state university aggies women's basketball team.
