AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES DEPARTMENT TO FUND LEGAL SERVICES AND CASEWORK SERVICES TO SUPPORT KINSHIP CAREGIVERS STATEWIDE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2017 to fund legal services and casework services to support kinship caregivers statewide. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2017 shall revert to the general fund.

          B. As used in this section, "kinship caregiver" means a relative within five degrees of consanguinity or affinity of a child placed in the relative's care.
