AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR AN INITIATIVE TO IMPROVE THE MEASUREMENT AND REPORTING WITHIN STATE AND LOCAL JOB-CREATION PROGRAMS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the economic development department for expenditure in fiscal year 2017 to:

                (1) research, clarify and standardize the terms, measures, including measures of economic-base jobs, and reporting protocols for state and local job-creation programs; and

                (2) make recommendations to:

                     (a) improve the reporting and other systems associated with those programs; and

                     (b) promote the widespread adoption of that system.

           B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2017 shall revert to the general fund.
