A MEMORIAL

DECLARING JANUARY 24, 2017 "SENIOR CITIZENS DAY" IN THE SENATE.

 

     WHEREAS, fellow New Mexicans recognize the ultimate sacrifices that a generation gave of themselves during wartime to preserve the freedoms everyone enjoys today; and

     WHEREAS, recognition of achievements by a generation that helped shape a nation continues to enrich the lives of every New Mexican; and

     WHEREAS, much gratitude is deserved for the enormous contributions made daily by senior citizens to communities through their volunteer activities; and

     WHEREAS, respect is warranted for senior citizens, whose wisdom and experience enrich New Mexico's valued diversity; and

     WHEREAS, support is justified for programs and services that are instrumental in allowing senior citizens to live independently and with dignity for as long as possible;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that January 24, 2017 be declared "Senior Citizens Day" in the senate; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the aging and long-term services department.
