0012|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO FOR

0013|     HEALTH SCIENCES PROGRAMS.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--
    |
0017|            A.  One million one hundred ninety-nine thousand five
    |
0018|     hundred dollars ($1,199,500) is appropriated from the general
    |
0019|     fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for
    |
0020|     expenditure in fiscal year 1997 in the following amounts for the
    |
0021|     following purposes:
    |
0022|                 (1)  five hundred forty thousand dollars
    |
0023|     ($540,000) to continue the problem-based medical education
    |
0024|     curriculum at the school of medicine;
    |
0025|                 (2)  three hundred eighteen thousand dollars
    |
0001|     ($318,000) to continue the area health education center program
    |
0002|     of the health sciences center; and
    |
0003|                 (3)  three hundred forty-one thousand five
    |
0004|     hundred dollars ($341,500) to implement a center for population
    |
0005|     health in the health sciences center.
    |
0006|            B.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining
    |
0007|     at the end of fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the general fund.
