0012|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO IMPROVE A STATEWIDE TELEMEDICINE

0013|     NETWORK LINKING RURAL AREAS WITH URBAN REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTERS.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars
    |
0017|     ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of
    |
0018|     regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in
    |
0019|     fiscal year 1997 to expand and improve a statewide telemedicine
    |
0020|     network that will allow rural health care providers access to
    |
0021|     urban medical centers through video and telephonic transmissions
    |
0022|     and that will improve rural health care needs by extending the
    |
0023|     telemedicine network throughout the state with the resources of
    |
0024|     urban regional medical centers.  Any unexpended or unencumbered
    |
0025|     balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1997 shall revert to
    |
